Dr. Carolyn M Selavka

Dr. Carolyn M Selavka is the owner and founder of Baystate Mobile Veterinary Services since it was started in 2009. She specializes in general medicine, soft tissue surgery, pediatrics, pain management, and end of life care. Dr. Selavka earned her B.S. from Northeastern University, her M.S. from University of Hawaii, and her V.M.D from University of Pennsylvania in 1995. During her pre-veterinary studies, she became a Certified Veterinary Technician (C.V.T.), and was fortunate to have the opportunity to work in many facets of the animal field including: The Honolulu Zoo, The Philadelphia Zoo, Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, and Window Rock Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona.

Upon graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Selavka completed an internship in small animal surgery and medicine at the New Haven Central Veterinary Hospital in New Haven, CT. She then went on to a residency at Tufts University in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. In 1999, Dr. Selavka became part of the senior staff in general medicine and surgery at Angell Memorial Animal Medical Center in Springfield, MA, and remained there until the hospitals’ closing in 2007.

Dr. Selavka has earned awards that attest to her standard of care including the “Bedside Manner Award” earned in veterinary school and the Sturbridge Times “Readers Choice Award” naming Baystate Mobile Veterinary Services as “Best of Sturbridge” for four years and counting. Baystate Mobile Veterinary Services is also a preferred vendor for Massachusetts State Police K9 Officers.

In her personal life, Dr. Selavka is married to Carl “Matt” Selavka, her husband of 30 years, and she has a 12-year-old daughter named Chloe. She also has 3 dogs (Splinter, Tilley and Wren) and 4 cats (Bobtail, Steve, Rikki, and Juniper). She enjoys travel, horseback vacations, cooking, entertaining, gardening, paintball, photography, and music. She also helped with the search and rescue dogs from the 9/11 tragedy.
